An Ode to Love.
The more I love, the closer I come to God. I will never fear the open wound of vulnerability, for He bore His own. And without it, I cannot truly love, cannot fully offer myself to the light.
Love is a key I used to find myself, to unlock rooms inside I never knew existed. To deny this love is to deny my own worth, to whisper to myself that I don't deserve it. The fear is a mirror reflecting a wound in the mind. How can a heart receive what it is secretly set to reject?
Love is a spark that makes me want to remake the world. Aja Monet's poems feel like truth because she loves with every word.
To turn away from love is to turn away from the very breath God offered.
"Love is thee most vital and necessary tool we have for our future, for our bettering. And we must use it with as much fervor as we use our weapons, our words and our tweets, our laws and our guns, our brands and our bodies our poems and our raps, our instruments and our songs, our science and our theory." - Aja Monet
